Question 1

How often should air ducts actually be cleaned?

Accepted Answer

For most El Dorado Hills homes, every three to five years is honest. The long dry season pushes fine decomposed-granite dust into attic duct runs, oak pollen loads the system every spring, and wildfire smoke episodes like Caldor and Mosquito put a layer of fine particulate in return plenums in a matter of days. If you've just finished a remodel, bought the house, or noticed dust settling again a day after you wipe counters, don't wait for the calendar.

Question 2

What happens during the job, and how long are you in my house?

Accepted Answer

We seal the supply and return registers, hook a negative-air vacuum to the trunk line, then run rotary brushes and compressed-air whips through each branch so debris travels toward the vacuum instead of into your rooms. Returns, the plenum, and the blower compartment get cleaned too, since that's where the heaviest buildup sits on Carrier, Trane, Lennox, Goodman, Rheem, and American Standard split systems. A typical 2,000–4,000 sq ft two-story here runs three to five hours. Two-zone or dual-system plans take longer because there are two of everything.

Question 3

What makes one house cost more than another?

Accepted Answer

Vent count is the biggest factor. A 2,400 sq ft single-system home is a different job than a 3,800 sq ft two-story with two complete systems, two air handlers, and separate return drops upstairs and down. Attic access matters too, since flexible insulated duct buried under blown insulation in a low-clearance attic takes real work to reach. Heavy smoke residue or construction dust adds time on top of the base cleaning. We look at the system first, free, and give you a set number before anyone touches a register.

Question 4

Does the dryer vent get cleaned at the same time, or is that a separate service?

Accepted Answer

It's a separate line item, but we'd rather do it on the same visit than make you book twice. Most homes here route the dryer through the garage wall or up through the attic, and the long attic runs trap lint badly. If your dryer takes two cycles to finish a load, that's the vent talking, not the machine.

Question 5

What do you do if there's mold in the system?

Accepted Answer

We stop and show you. Mold in a duct system usually means a moisture source, often a sweating attic air handler or a condensate line that isn't draining, and cleaning alone won't fix that. Light surface growth we treat with an EPA-registered antimicrobial after cleaning. Anything widespread, we tell you straight that it needs remediation and a plumbing or HVAC repair first. We don't pretend a vacuum solves it.

Question 6

Is there a surcharge for a same-day appointment?

Accepted Answer

No. Same-day work is billed exactly like an appointment booked two weeks out. During the June-through-September heat stretch our schedule fills early, so call in the morning if you want a spot that afternoon. If we can get to El Dorado Hills that day, we will, at the same number.
